Join our flagship title Junkee as we expand our team and add another staff writer to our editorial team. Junkee covers pop culture, news and politics for young Australians, and we’re looking for an exceptional writer to join us.

The ideal candidate will be a super fast writer with the ability to nail the right tone of each piece, delivering consistently high quality copy each time, every time. You will write daily news across a wide variety of topics and should be well versed in social media and how to get your content seen as widely as possible, so a proven track record of amplifying content digitally will be looked upon very favourably.

You’ll be able to write content that stands out from the crowd, with a keen nose for what makes great news, find exclusive stories and the angle that’s most going to interest Junkee’s audience.

An obsessive love for correct grammar and aversion to dangling modifiers is required. Multimedia Producer/ Writer, TheVine

TheVine is searching for a Multimedia Producer who loves writing, tweeting, ‘gramming’, ‘snapping’ and producing clever social media content around Australian entertainment and pop-culture.

In this role, they develop a mix of reactive and evergreen content on reality TV, movies, music, celebrities and the latest in trending internet culture. They translate their quirky sense of humour into funny and sarcastic articles, images and videos that speak in a voice that connects with young Australians.

The Multimedia Producer intuitively understands the audience and know how to formulate stories that cut through the noise and stand out in the newsfeed. They get a buzz when their work is read by thousands of people and understand the importance of monitoring performance and using data to improve future results. Reporting to the Managing Publisher/Editor, they must balance the commercial aims of an advertising-funded network with the missions of the platform and the interests of the audience. This will include brainstorming and producing branded advertorial content, video series and digital activations.

This person thinks creatively to develop unique story angles and is pro at using animated gifs and visuals to minimise text and express stories visually. The Multimedia Producer has basic graphic and video editing skills and/or an interest in developing their abilities in this area. This is a mid-level, full-time position based either our Surry Hills, Sydney office or St Kilda, Melbourne office.

Multimedia Producer / Video Editor, TheVine

TheVine is searching for a ‘Multimedia Producer / Video Editor’ who loves memes, entertainment, internet culture and is still mourning Harambe (RIP).

The Multimedia Producer understands how to best formulate a video to be distributed through social media, with the intention of catching eyeballs in the newsfeed and being watched on mobile. They think creatively and can execute ideas autonomously.

The person in this role is capable of illustrating graphics, making memes, producing parodies, MLG videos and animated gifs. They have an eye for design and are capable of developing reactive content in a fast paced environment using the Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator).

The most important quality for this role is a good sense of humour and the ability to translate this into authentic and sharable content that connects with young Australians. The ‘Multimedia Producer/Video Editor’ has knowledge and interest in mainstream entertainment including music, TV, movies and viral internet culture. They can think on their feet to reference nostalgic pop-culture moments and remix content into something that’s hilarious.

Experience using live video on YouTube and Facebook is a plus, but not a requirement.

The hours of this position will be flexible across Saturday and Sunday with approximately 5 hours required across the whole weekend working from home.

Events & Marketing Executive

Junkee Media is searching for an exceptional Events and Marketing Executive to join our award-winning team in Surry Hills, Sydney. You’ll be joining an innovative and growing team with market leading youth titles including Junkee, inthemix, FasterLouder, AWOL and The Cusp.

As the Events and Marketing Executive, you’ll play a key role in supporting the rollout of some of our key annual events, including Junket, the Electronic Music Conference, the inthemix awards and more. You will work directly with our in-house Executive Producers on each event, including social media, content marketing, promotions, website build, graphic design and more. Film & Video Editor

Junkee Media, Australia's leading youth publisher is on the hunt for a full-time Film & Video Editor to join its Studio team based in Surry Hills. Junkee Media owns and operates flagship pop culture site Junkee; music sites inthemix and FasterLouder; and custom publishing sites AWOL and The Cusp.

As the film or video editor of Junkee Media, you'll be responsible for assembling recorded raw material into a finished product that's suitable for broadcasting and distribution. The material may include camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics and special effects. This is a key role in the post-production process and your skills can determine the quality and delivery of the final product.

This role will work closely with the Head of Video and the Studio Manager in order to achieve a desired end result.

The Video Editor will accomplish the bulk of the technical tasks related to post-production. They will manage and organise all post-production processes. The video editor will work closely with the Head of Video to execute the concept through the post=production process.

In the office the Video Editor reviews all footage from all shoot and makes all the selects. The Video Editor inserts computer graphics and special effects as required, and, using the internal and external duplication services available to the production company, delivers the final product.

Responsibilities:

·       Review shooting script and raw material to create a shot decision list based on scenes' value and contribution to continuityAssembling all raw footage, with camera shots either recorded or transferred onto video tape in preparation for inputting into the computer;

Production Coordinator

Junkee Media, Australia's leading youth publisher is on the hunt for a full-time Production Coordinator to join its Studio team based in Surry Hills. The Junkee Studio Production Coordinator works closely with the creative team and assists with the organisational functions of projects. The Production Coordinator is responsible for the administration, organisation and ad hoc work involved in producing the creative content from studio.

The Production Coordinator corresponds directly with producers, and the Head of Creative Content to fulfil practical, everyday production needs crossing through; events, videos, activations and integrated campaigns.

The role requires diversity; an ability to coordinate multiple projects will be crucial to success.

The Producer is responsible for end-to-end project management of all collaborations between Junkee Studio and it's clients. Their responsibility is to work on key client campaigns to ensure memorable experiences are executed flawlessly, on schedule, within budget and exceeds all expectations.

The role manages each activation or project - big or small - to completion, taking a best-practice approach to financial, operational, and event delivery management; and importantly ensures relationships between internal departments, external agencies or suppliers, and the partners are maintained and enhanced. The Producer's responsibility is a planning and project management expert.

Responsibilities:

·      Assist the studio team with the implementation of all integrated campaigns, events and projects tasked to the Junkee Studio
·      Create detailed delivery plans in order to maximise the operational approach to each project

Senior Account Manager, AWOL

Sitting within the Junkee Studio division of Junkee Media, the Senior Account Manager has responsibility for the leadership of a key client relationship, taking responsibility for all output/ deliverables, fostering client service excellence, managing the content project and ensuring that it delivers on all of its content, social and traffic KPIs.

Responsibilities:

·       Act as the lead point of contact for the key client
·       Day-to-day management of client WIPs and other process documentation

Creative Lead

Sitting within the Junkee Studio division of Junkee Media, the Creative Lead is responsible for the conceptual development and the ability to clearly articulate the creative expression of the concepts. Thinking consumer first the Creative Lead will work across all brand briefs and individual projects across Junkee Media. The Creative Lead acts as a champion for creative solutions and work across the organization to foster innovative thinking.
The Creative Lead will have a strong discipline in creative thinking and consumer and brand communications. With a strong understanding of integrated solutions the Creative Lead will have a strong portfolio across digital and content as a core strength.

Responsibilities:

·       Provide creative solutions that achieve brief objectives
·       Prepare creative concepts and campaigns for presentation to internal agency teams and clients
·       Proactively share ideas and interesting work with creative and designers
·       Write headlines and body copy for all forms of media and collaborate with production resources to deliver approved concepts ensuring work meets client needs and agency creative standards
·       Clearly articulate rationales for work to sell ideas and respond constructively to feedback
·       Supervise production of all approved concepts to ensure work meets client needs and agency creative standards.
·       Provide pertinent information to team members on timely basis and adhere to brief responses and deadlines
·       Actively conduct, participate & contribute in brainstorms
·       Participate in meetings including creative presentations, Studio WIP’s and production meetings (where required)
·       Develop thorough understanding of key client’s business and brand as well a thorough understanding across multiple categories
·       Successfully execute projects on brief, budget and time

You:

·       4+ years experience in a creative, conceptual thinking in a creative or digital agency, or publisher and a digital native
·       Experience in conceptualising and creating plans for multi-channel campaigns
·       Strong portfolio of ideas, writing/ art direction
·       Ideally some award winning work
·       Excellent ability to clearly and simplistically communicate ideas and concepts and visually bring them to life
·       Decision-making skills and the ability to meet multiple competing deadlines across multiple projects
·       Ability to influence across a broad spectrum of stakeholders
·       Proven ability to lead, prioritise and organise resources while maintaining quality and attention to detail
