We’re still growing and we’re hiring, Again!

We've just added a slew of amazing people to our team but we are still growing and there are THREE very exciting opportunities for exceptional candidates to join the leading Millenial Publisher in the country, based in our Surry Hills HQ.

The roles are:
Managing Editor
Video Producer / Editor
Food & Drink / Arts Editor

Managing Editor

A rare opportunity has come up for a new Managing Editor to work across all of our consumer titles.

As the Managing Editor of our Consumer Titles, you will be heading up the award-winning and growing editorial team including Junkee.com, the flagship title of Junkee Media, along with Music Junkee, Video Junkee and Politics Junkee sections.

The Managing Editor will also lead the launch of titles, like the recently announced Punkee, our new title for Gen Z Australians. Junkee Media covers pop culture, TV, film, music, news and politics for young Australians in a funny, smart, ballsy and engaging way and we’re looking for an exceptional Managing Editor to lead our editorial team as we expand as Australia’s leading youth publisher.

The Ideal Candidate

A natural leader responsible for executing the publishing vision for the business to achieve our goals. The Managing Editor has primary responsibility for the quality, timeliness and appropriateness of all content – text, images, audio and video – across all Junkee Media owned and operated media channels.

An advocate for excellence in a user’s experience, this role drives the ‘attitude, tone and authority’ that is integral to the online content offering of Junkee Media. Importantly, the role assumes accountability for the content and traffic goals, and manages a team of Editors across each of the titles. The ideal candidate will also have an acute sense of commercial awareness and experience in native strategy and execution.

They will run the daily Editorial meetings and should be well versed in social media and how to get content seen as widely as possible, so a proven track record of amplifying content digitally is necessary. The Managing Editor also oversees Junkee’s video output so experience in video production and creation will be favoured.

You’ll lead the team to create content that stands out from the crowd, with a keen nose for what makes great news, find exclusive stories and the angle that’s most going to interest Junkee Media’s audience. We’re looking for someone who has refined a unique tone of voice, can craft snappy headlines and who knows the difference between clickable and clickbait.

The ideal candidate is super passionate about popular culture and wants to make their mark in leading Junkee Media into its next phase of expansion. The position is full-time based in our Surry Hills office in Sydney.

Video Producer/Editor, Junkee Media

Australia’s leading youth content publisher Junkee Media has a rare opening for a gun video producer/editor to join our editorial team in Surry Hills, Sydney.
Junkee launched 4 years ago with a remit to shake up Australia’s pop culture landscape. With a fresh take and unique attitude, Junkee quickly established itself as one of the most interesting new voices in Australian media. Junkee was named Media Brand of the Year at the Mumbrella Awards in its first year online, and its funny, smart, ballsy and interesting take on news, film, politics, TV and more has seen it develop a strong following.

Now we’re on the hunt for a full-time video producer/editor to help us grow our footprint. As a member of both the editorial and video teams you will need to pro-actively come up with video ideas every day, then shoot, arrange interviews and edit engaging video content that looks at topics young Australians are most interested in.

The Ideal Candidate

Will “think video” and be a digital native with an understanding of what video works best online, and how to create it. Maybe you studied video journalism at university, or you have some solid experience in creating amazing video content already, have great organisational skills and time management, and – most importantly – have a keen interest in pop culture and all of the content that surrounds it. We want someone who can easily express their attitude and take on the world with video.
