Here's why we need you…

Due to ongoing business transformation and growth we're excited to add a talented Account Executive to our Commercial Team to help support the Account Managers and broader Junkee business in achieving key markers and KPI's.

Here's what you'll do...

As Account Executive, you will be responsible for working across a number of key clients and building these relationships, assisting Senior Account Managers with the deliverables of each project, reporting & analysis, briefing and project management of a number of internal stakeholders to deliver output within required deadline and ensuring to keep all relevant stakeholders informed and up to date.

Here's what you'll look like...

  • A confident self starter with at least 1 years experience in an agency environment ideally within media, digital, advertising, publishing
  • Experience across post campaign analysis and anaytics and the ability to be proactive in offering suggestions on how to improve/ optimise these results
  • Exceptional communication skills and excellent stakeholder management abilities
  • Be a proactive member of the team and excited to get stuck in and share innovative ideas
  • Energetic and passionate in ensuring that all campaigns are fully scoped, delivered on time within budget and to agreed specifications
  • The ability to work in a fast paced agile environment being able to juggle multiple projects and duties at any one time with exceptional organisational skills in order to meet tight deadlines
  • Proven ability to present, lead, prioritise and organise resources while maintaining quality and attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, advertising, marketing or similar related field preferred but not essential

Junkee Media Promotions and New Hires

Junkee Media has promoted entertainment and features editor Meg Watson to the role of editor of JUNKEE.

Watson, who will be based at Junkee Media’s Melbourne office, joined Junkee as weekend editor in 2014 before joining the publishing company as a full-time staff writer last year. She was promoted to entertainment and features editor four months ago.

Junkee Media managing editor, Darren Levin said, “Over the past three years Junkee has become a real incubator for some of the country’s best young writers and editors, and one of the most pleasing things about this round of appointments is that we’ve been able to promote from within. I couldn’t be happier with the team we’ve built, and along with the recent strides we’ve made in video, the future looks great!”

Junkee Media has also appointed Osman Faruqi as Junkee news and political editor. Faruqi has written for Guardian Australia, GQ and Vice and co-hosts FBi Radio’s news and current affairs program Backchat. He also is the co-founder of polling firm MetaPoll.

Junkee Media’s music title FasterLouder has also had a new editor appointed with Lachlan Kanoniuk promoted to the role. He was previously a staff writer for the website and was previously the Australia/New Zealand editor for Vice’s electronic music channel, Thump.

Jules LeFevre has also joined the team as a staff writer, working predominantly across FasterLouder and Junkee Media’s dance music site, inthemix, while Melbourne writer and critic Tom Clift has joined as Junkee’s weekend editor.

Duggan said: “I’m very proud of the content Darren and his team create every day, from breaking news to helping to explain the topics that Australian millennials really care about. As the media landscape continues to evolve, we’re always adapting to stay one step ahead of it and produce content that adds to the conversation, not just the noise.”

Journalist Sinead Stubbins who has written for the likes of Vulture, Pitchfork and Vice, and video journalist James Branson, editor of Sneaky Magazine and former editor of Penthouse Magazine, also joined the team in March.

We're proud to announce that Junkee Media has been acquired by diversified location based media company oOh!media, representing an exciting new chapter for both companies.

The acquisition bolsters Junkee Media as one of Australia's fastest growing and most innovative Millennial focused new media companies.

Junkee’s “Junket” Is Back

We're excited to announce that Junket, the un-conference hosted by our pop-culture and opinion site JUNKEE is returning this year September 25-27. We're inviting some of Australia’s best and brightest Millennial influencers to share ideas, get advice, be inspired, innovate, teach, learn, network and have fun -- all with the (suitably ambitious) aim of helping set the agenda for Australia’s future.

Junkee Media Announces New Title “The Cusp”

Junkee Media and Westpac have today announced the launch of a new media title, The Cusp, designed to provide Australians with engaging and relevant content about their money, their career and their wellbeing.

TheCusp.com.au is mobile-first and aims to inform and inspire 18-35 year old Australians by sharing real life stories from motivated young people who have succeeded in their field, along with insights from experts and influencers.

“Each year we conduct a comprehensive study into the lives of Australian Millennials,” said Junkee Media CEO Neil Ackland, “and the research told us the biggest concern for this audience is career, money and wellbeing.

“More than two thirds (70 per cent) said that career opportunities were a top priority and most (93 per cent) agreed that their job needed to be something they enjoyed doing. Nearly 70 per cent of respondents said their financial security was important, followed closely by their health and wellbeing (63 per cent).

“Whether that’s going to University, entering the workforce, buying your first home or starting your own business, The Cusp is designed to help and support young Australians. Collaborating with Westpac to create this media title allows Millennials to access the information they’ve told us they want,” said Ackland.

Ashley Gray, Head of Customer Acquisition, Youth and Millennials said, “Westpac is excited to collaborate with Junkee Media to connect with and inspire young Australians helping them to find their passion through engaging and relevant content.

“The Cusp is an exciting new initiative for us to start meaningful conversations with Millennials through the delivery of relevant content inspired by the brand, delivered instream across multiple platforms,” said Gray.
